Introduction

Wrengle is a local-first desktop workspace for meeting-heavy knowledge work. It combines notes, meetings, search, and AI-assisted workflows in an IDE-shaped interface with local files as the center of gravity.

Wrengle is for people who need ownership and privacy around their notes:

• evaluators deciding whether the product is usable today;
• new beta users setting up a vault and writing their first notes;
• meeting-heavy users checking transcription and AI privacy tradeoffs;
• developers reading the architecture and plugin contract.

What Wrengle is

Wrengle is a desktop app for local notes, meeting workflows, and privacy-aware AI-assisted work. It is designed around a vault, an editor, a file tree, a command palette, side panels, and dictation and voice control. Dictation speech, voice analysis, and the built-in assistant default to Auto: connected keys confirmed available in the OS keychain select cloud providers, while unavailable cloud routes fall back to local models. Provider validity is checked only when a request runs. Explicit Local choices and Cloud voice features Off remain sticky. Voice audio and transcribed text stay on your machine only when the effective speech and analysis routes are local.

What Wrengle is not

Wrengle is not a hosted team workspace, not a browser-first SaaS app, and not a mobile app in v1.

Accounts are optional

You can download Wrengle, read these docs, and use the local desktop workspace without an account. Signing in adds identity and account management across the website, docs navbar, and desktop status bar; it does not upload or sync your vault. See Accounts and sign-in.

Availability labels

• Available — documented behavior available in the current build.
• Beta — usable behavior that may still change.
• Planned — product direction, not a shipped promise.
• Not in v1 — deliberately outside the first version.
